My Life as a Joke

Growing up hurts. Can you watch Derek do it without laughing so hard you break a rib? Our other favourite wimpy kid learns that growing up comes with all kinds of cringey horrors. Derek Fallon has been a stuntman and a cartoonist. Now he’s just a joke. A laughing stock. He’s meant to be growing up, so why does he keep on looking like a baby? He passes out during a worm dissection in science class. He falls flat on his face in gym class. He even gets a fat lip that makes him lisp all day. Is there any chance of Derek finding a happy ending? Or at least, a joke that’s not on him?
