Touch Blue

When their island schoolhouse is threatened with closure, which would force lots of families to move to the mainland, Tess and the rest of the islanders hatch a plan to save their community. In order to boost the number of students at the school, the island families decide to take in foster children. So Tess and her family are taking a chance on Aaron, a thirteen-year-old trumpet player who has been bounced from home to home. Now Tess needs all the luck she can muster. Will she be able to befriend Aaron and make the scheme a success for them both? Or will the islanders be forced to leave the only home they have ever known? A moving novel set off the coast of Maine, by Newbery Honor author Cynthia Lord.
