Pea's Book of Holidays

The summer holidays are here – and this year they’ll be extra-special. Clover is off to theatre camp, Mum’s staying home to write – and Pea and Tink are going on an Enid Blyton camping trip! But when Mum confesses she hasn’t written a word of her next novel, it’s all change for their plans. Where better to unblock a writer than Corfe Castle – the inspiration for the Famous Five books? There’s a castle. They’ve got a tent, a dog and lashings of ginger beer. But is there a ghost as well…?

  • The fourth delightful story about Pea and her family
  • A charming modern fairy tale full of warmth and wit
  • Explores themes of creativity and finding yourself
  • Susie Day won a BBC Talent Children’s Fiction Prize

Authors

  • Susie Day

Susie Day grew up in Penarth, Wales, with a lisp and a really unfortunate first name.

Her many careers have included guiding tourists, professional nappy-changing, teaching small people how many beans make five and taller people how to interrogate the beans from a post-structuralist perspective, and herding boarding school students – but she always wanted to be a writer. She firmly believes in the dictum “write what you know”, which is why this book is about cake, watching telly, and helpless romantic flailitude.

Susie lives in Oxford, and is probably drinking a cup of tea right now (she usually has one around this time of day).

Her first novel, BIG WOO!, was published in 2008: “I honestly don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard while reading … very highly recommended” Chicklish.
