I Was Jane Austen's Best Friend

“Jane says that if I am to be the heroine of this story, something will throw a hero in my way…”

Meet Jenny Cooper: the shy, pretty cousin of clever, sparky Jane Austen – who has lots of handsome brothers and a vivid imagination! When Jenny goes to live with the Austens, she knows nothing of the world of beautiful dresses, dances, secrets, gossip and romance that Jane inhabits. But when Jenny falls hopelessly in love, who better than Jane to help her win the heart of this most eligible man? An irresistible tale of dashing young men, glorious gowns and two teenage girls in search of a hero, set in Jane Austen’s richly-imagined historical world.

  • I LOVE THIS BOOK !!!!! It is great. It is based on the true life of Jane Austen but is written as a diary through the views of her best friend Jenny (who in real life was also called Jane, but the author changed it to Jenny as it would be to confusing with two Jane’s !) Jenny’s story is also based on true events. The book follows the two girls as they visit balls and as Jenny meets Captain Thomas Williams … Great read, i would recommend it for girls aged 12+
